Artist's Comments

I modeled Optimus for my Hard Surface Modeling class. I think it turned out well considering I modeled him in two weeks. Please give critiques.

¿Silver Optimus Prime? So, thats the eighty-six line ? :thumb85567480:

Awesome.

The detail on the legs is great.

The whole figure is weighted really well and looks solid and functional.

Not to be picky (but you did ask for critique), but the gun lets the whole thing down. I know how hard his gun is to get right, and although it could be that you weren't really that bothered about getting it right (which I doubt, because every other detail is perfect!), but he looks like he's holding a telescope! I think if you make that stand out a bit more, you would kill it.

I certainly mean no offense, because I think it's a great job all round.

Congratulations.

Why, in the age of the spellcheck, is spelling a loste art?
:icongirlnamedspike:
Maybe he's holding Perceptor...Haha, the gun is from a different model, I was pressed for time and just threw it in for fun.
:icongirlnamedspike:
Yeah, when he coated himself to protect from the rage causing sun spores.

The wheels look way too small to me. Prime is a truck, not a go-kart!
:icongirlnamedspike:
Oh man, there is not one picture of him that is the same. Even in the show he changes sizes details all the time. The main reference I used was a drawing from a piece of promotional art and he didn't have wheels at all! But I agree and thats an easy fix. Thanks for the comment.
:iconraodaozao:
Well, the show was made in the 80s, so you can hardly trust it. =p

I suppose one should aim for the wheels to look appropriate when in truck mode, but am I right in assuming this model isn't geared for the transformation?
:icongirlnamedspike:
It will be eventually. I didn't have time to figure out how he would transform in time to turn it in for class. I plan to keep working on him.
