This is my first real try with rendering in mental ray in my rendering class. Some of the shadows are a little weird but I think over all it turned out pretty good. The wax is a blinn with the translucence ramped up, if I were smart I would have used SSS but I haven't had the time to learned how.
nice work on candles! they look pretty good. lightning is nice soft. criticism part: flames look solid. some more glow and self-illumination could do it. based on highlights, it looks like candles are emitting white light. i think it should be more yellow than white (if it is then sorry). and i bit don't like that metal material which holds candles. i just cannot fit it into scene. though that most back looks good. but as whole image it looks fine

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
